One Stop to stock only free range eggs from September
One Stop is proud to announce that from this month it will only be stocking free range eggs in its 900 UK stores.
From the 24th September, One Stop will be stocking medium Own Label free range eggs priced at £1 for half a dozen and large eggs priced at £1.20 for half a dozen, providing customers with the great value One Stop is renowned for.
This is an exciting step for One Stop, as Managing Director Jonny McQuarrie, explains: “Nearly two million free range eggs were sold in One Stop stores last year so it made absolute sense to respond to our customers’ increased demand for ethically sourced eggs and take the decision to stock only free range eggs.”
One Stop’s Head of Product, Phil Banks, continues: “Free range eggs are laid by hens that enjoy unlimited daytime access to runs that have ample vegetation and space to roam and peck. Consumers clearly have a desire for free range eggs, as 50% of all eggs produced in the UK are now free range.”
Eggs have been deemed the original superfood, as Phil explains: “Eggs have impressive health credentials, with both the yolk and the white being rich in nutrients, including proteins, minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids. They are a great source of inexpensive, high quality protein and are a great addition to any shop.”
Phil continues: “Eggs are a really versatile ingredient, helping our customers to whip up a quick brunch, a tasty lunch or a delicious cake. Poached, scrambled, fried or in an omelette, eggs make mealtimes easy. The One Stop website has plenty of great recipes featuring eggs to try at home including Classic Quiche Lorraine, Spanish Omelette and Gooey Chocolate Cake.”
Free range eggs are just one of the many responsibly farmed products available in One Stop stores, as part of One Stop’s Own label range. Jonny explains: “We’re proud to continue evolving our product range that now includes UK-sourced fresh meats, home-grown potatoes and now our free range eggs. Our Own Label food range is sourced from trusted British suppliers with our prices offering excellent value for money. We are delighted to offer our customers exceptional quality, without the large price tag.”
Supporting British famers is also important to One Stop, as Jonny explains: “One Stop actively supports British farmers by stocking a comprehensive range of high-quality British products, meaning that we get a fair price for farmers’ produce and our customers can be assured that the food stocked in our stores is of the freshest and highest quality possible.”
Jonny concludes: “As the retail landscape changes and evolves, provenance, along with quality and price, is now more important than ever to our customers. We have a focus on being the best store for customers in their neighbourhoods and our quality products help us to achieve this. We are delighted to be stocking free range eggs for our customers moving forwards and will continue to work with them on securing what they want, for the best possible price and quality.”
