winter warming mulled wine
Mulled Wine
Preparation time: 5-10 mins
Cooking time: 20 mins
Makes: 4 large glasses

  • 10 cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 cup caster sugar
  • 1 grated nutmeg
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 orange rind, grated
  • 1 red apple, chopped with skin on
  • 750ml red wine (Merlots, Burgundys and Tempranillos work best)

1. Heat the spices, orange rind, apple and water in a saucepan over a medium heat.

2. Bring the mix to the boil then reduce to a low heat and leave to simmer for 10 minutes.

3. Add the wine and simmer for a further 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and strain the liquid. Serve immediately.
