Winter Warming Mulled Wine
Preparation time: 5-10 mins
Cooking time: 20 mins
Makes: 4 large glasses
2 cinnamon sticks
1/4 cup caster sugar
1 grated nutmeg
2 cups water
1 orange rind, grated
1 red apple, chopped with skin on
750ml red wine (Merlots, Burgundys and Tempranillos work best)
- Heat the spices, orange rind, apple and water in a saucepan over a medium heat.
- Bring the mix to the boil then reduce to a low heat and leave to simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add the wine and simmer for a further 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and strain the liquid. Serve immediately.
