Customer Service Assistants
Customer Service Assistants joining One Stop undertake fully endorsed training programmes covering all of the skills and knowledge requirements to be a great Customer Service Assistant. Learning blends together workbooks, step by step guides, e-learning and coaching to enable the new starter to lead their own training. Completion of this programme will give our employees a Level 2 Diploma in Retail.
Shift & Store Managers
Shift and Store Managers then continue on to complete a Shift/Store Manager workbook including Management step by step guides. This workbook, to be completed following completion of the Customer Service Assistants workbook, provides our Managers with all the key management terminology and skills to run a shift or store and manage their people. To complement the workbook, our Managers will also attend various workshops and undertake industry leading e-learning programmes.
Head Office
Within our Head Office, all staff attend a Welcome course specifically designed to welcome them into the business and to introduce them to One Stop’s values and also the key departments within Head Office. Staff at all levels will attend Core Modules which cover key people skills and look at developing staff onto the next level of their career. Staff at different levels will attend courses run by our parent company Tesco at their academy.
Distribution Centres
New starters to our Distribution Centres will work through their own Training Journal with the support of their Line Manager. Furthermore, all staff will undertake Manual Handling training as well as specialised training on how to handle key machinery. All Supervisors within the DCs also have to complete IOSH training which will help and guide them in all aspects of Management and Health and Safety.

Andy Ketchell, Area Manager
“I started working when I was 13 as a paperboy. When I turned 16, I applied for a Saturday Customer Service Assistant role. Over the next couple of years I worked at the store while doing my college work and when I was 18 had the opportunity to step up into the Assistant Managers role. In 2002 there was a Store Manager position which I applied for and was offered. It was really exciting to have the opportunity to lead my own team and run my own store. By 2006 I was a confident Store Manager who helped other stores perform better and that’s when an exciting opportunity came my way! I have been an Area Manager for One Stop for just over 6 years now, during that time I have led teams of Store Managers all over the region. Just like when I was a Store Manager I still love to be on the shop floor with our great customers and store teams, and it’s a great feeling to be able to support my Store Managers to fulfil their potential!”

“My time with One Stop started in 1996 doing an evening paper round in my local store. Shortly after, I applied for a part time Customer Service Assistant position working 8 hours a week along-side completing my A’levels. I was ‘bitten’ by the retail bug and worked my way up through the roles of Supervisor, Assistant Manager and Store Manager. I’ve also worked in project roles involving EPOS, store re-launch and Training. The experience and knowledge from those roles helps me deliver my job today as Regional Trainer, delivering our Bronze, Silver and Gold packages to Store and Shift Managers in circa 150 stores”.
