Adam’s story

Adam’s story

Join us in celebrating Pride month. Here is a personal story from one of our colleagues..

“I joined One Stop in November 2021 as a Recruitment Coordinator; it has been an exciting time for me to be a part of the business as it navigates its’ LGBTQ+ inclusivity journey.

It always seems daunting joining a new company, especially as almost 1/5 LGBTQ+ staff (18%) have been the target of negative comments or conduct from work colleagues* As a gay man at One Stop, I have always felt that I could totally be myself, whereas, in other organisations and society in general, this hasn’t always been the case.

I am extremely proud of One Stop as we have just successfully launched our ‘LGBTQ+ Network,’ an inclusive place for colleagues to share, learn and be themselves. It is also there to create awareness around the LGBTQ+ community, our experiences and the challenges we face.

This network allows us to review, change and create policies that enable One Stop to be a truly LGBTQ+ Inclusive organisation. I have also had the opportunity to apply to be Chair of the LGBTQ+ Network which I look forward to leading if given the opportunity.

One Stop has also recently launched the ‘Diverse Talent Community,’ a programme which will further support our colleagues who identify as LGBTQ+, Black, from an ethnically diverse background or have a disability of any kind. One Stop are committed to ensuring that everyone is welcome and ensuring that their underrepresented colleagues receive the support, coaching and visibility to realise their potential.
