One Stop is committed to serving our customers, communities and planet a little better every day. As part of this commitment, we have joined forces with FareShare, the UK’s biggest food redistribution charity, making a financial donation to help provide food for vulnerable families.

More than 10% of the UK’s population is facing food insecurity. This means that their food intake is greatly reduced and affected children regularly experience physical sensations of hunger.

We have been partnered with FareShare since 2021 and during this time we have raised and donated over .

Throughout 2022 and 2023, our 900+ stores around the UK will continue to support FareShare, and further activity books are set to launch over the school holidays.

Charity and community groups are an integral part of the One Stop way of working – having donated over £8.8 million to charities – both on a national and grassroots level. Since 2013 we have donated 2.5 Million meals to local causes and our amazing colleagues have totted up nearly 322,000 hours of volunteer work in their local communities

We’ve got loads more exciting fundraising opportunities planned in the coming weeks, months and years so keep an eye out in store and across our social media channels for updates.

About FareShare

FareShare was founded in 1994 and was born out of the belief that good food should never go to waste, especially when people are experiencing hunger.  During 2020/21, at the height of the pandemic, FareShare redistributed more than 55,000 tonnes of food to people at risk of hunger – that’s the equivalent of nearly 132 million meals, or 4 meals every second.

Neil Thomas, Head of Transformation at One Stop spoke of both the charity and the campaign and said,

“We’re fully behind the work of FareShare. Through our large network of stores we see first-hand how some people in our communities need additional support. The reliance on charities such as FareShare is particularly sad to see in today’s society and is further exacerbated during the cost-of-living crisis. Throughout One Stop all our colleagues play an important role in maintaining and expanding the ongoing and great relationship we have with FareShare. We’re able to work together on a national level consolidating our efforts into this and other campaigns, as we raise additional funds and also seek to drive awareness of the charity’s work. We believe that with over 900 stores throughout the UK, we’re able to continue making a real difference and support FareShare.”

“Two-thirds of the groups FareShare supplies with food support children and families. The holidays should be a time of fun and excitement yet, in the aftermath of the pandemic and with rising living costs to contend with, many more families will struggle to put food on the table. We are very thankful to One Stop for their support, which will help us deliver much needed food to our network of frontline charities supporting families.” – Lindsay Boswell, FareShare CEO

Liz concludes: “We’re incredibly proud of the work we do to support our local communities and to help give back to those who need it the most. We want communities to know we are there for everyone and hope our latest partnership can help bring relief to many more people experiencing hardships.”
