One Stop colleagues sleep outside and raise thousands for charity

On Friday 16th May 2025, 18 One Stop colleagues from Portsmouth and Winchester, took part in Trinity’s Big Charity Sleep Out for homeless charity Trinity Winchester and have raised £6,900 (and counting!).

Colleagues from stores located in Winchester, Borden, Headly Down, Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport and Southampton came together to take part in sleeping outside of Winchester Cathedral all the night, until sunrise on Saturday 17th May 2025.

The Trinity Winchester charity aims to provide specialist supported housing, provide a wide range of health services such as GP’s, counselling and dental care to those who are homeless.

Colleagues and other members of the public created and designed their own cardboard shelters to sleep in, to try to create awareness of the real-life conditions homeless people face every day.

Darren Gransden, Area Manager for Portsmouth at One Stop took part in the fundraiser: “It was such an eye-opening experience to feel just a snippet of the awful conditions homeless people face every single day. The experience was worth it, and we hope the money raised can go a long way and make a huge impact!”

The colleagues decided to support the Trinity Big Sleep Out due to the charity’s work not only supporting those experiencing homelessness but also domestic abuse.

Kirsty Boote, Events and Community Fundraiser at Trinity Winchester expressed the charity’s appreciation: “We are delighted with the sponsorship money raised by the One Stop team. This substantial amount will enable us to continue offering our vital services to those in need. We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all staff involved and their customers for their kind donations”

Funds raised from the Sleep Out will go back into Trinity’s services, offering long-term positive change.

Jack Taylor, Community and Partnerships Manager at One Stop said “Our colleagues are very passionate about raising money for local charities and this challenge just shows their dedication. They experienced just a small part of what homeless people face each day and we’re all so proud of them giving up their homes for the night and completing the big sleepout! Their incredible fundraising total will help make life lighter for so many people facing homelessness.”
