One Stop colleagues soar through the sky in aid of charity
On the 12th September 2024, 40 One Stop colleagues from different departments and regions in the UK, united together to conquer their fears and skydived from 10,000 feet – one extra brave colleague, Chloe Chamberlain, Store Assistant from One Stop, Butts Road, Southampton, took on a 15,000 feet freefall, all in aid of charity.
Taking place at Go Dive skydive centre, in Sailsbury, One Stop colleagues took part in the unforgettable experience and raised £34,000 (and counting!) for the UK charity, Young Lives vs Cancer.
Young Lives vs Cancer who has been a charity partner at One Stop since 2022, support children and young people who are battling cancer as well as supporting their families cope with the diagnosis. The charity aims to support young cancer patients and their families to receive the right necessary support throughout their cancer journey.
Young Lives vs Cancer expressed their gratitude towards One Stop colleagues taking part. Nilesh Patel, Partnerships Fundraiser commented: “I want to say a massive thank you to each and every one of these incredible skydivers. One or two colleagues from a charity partner jumping out of a plane is amazing, but 40 of them taking on this challenge is simply incredible. And the fact they’ve raised £34,000 so far is brilliant.

“We rely entirely on donations to fund our vital work at Young Lives vs Cancer. The whole team at One Stop are so dedicated to their fundraising, and the money they are raising makes a huge difference to the children and young people with cancer and families that we’re here to support.”
Due to an enormous amount of monies raised and eager ambitious participants, there has been enough demand to start organising a skydive for 2025 for colleagues hoping to take the next big leap!
One Stop colleagues have been so thrilled to take part. Amanda Merrick, Graphic Designer at One Stop commented: “It is amazing to be part of such a big group who are enthusiastic about raising money for such a great cause – this makes One Stop an even better place to work. Raising money and overcoming fears – what a way to multitask!”
Area Manager at One Stop, Nicola Kelly, who led the charity skydive, commented: “It’s made me so incredibly proud to lead this team to throughout this challenge. Our colleagues who have taken part for our charity partner, have been working hard to fundraise on the lead up to the event collecting sponsorships, running raffle’s and tombola’s, bean baths, car washes, head shaves and bake sales to reach this outstanding total. It’s been brilliant to see all these individuals come together for the cause, and I’m blown away by what we have achieved, thank you to everyone who has got involved and supported us in every way.”
