We’re proud to Partner and attend the latest British Citizens Award

The ongoing partnership we have with the ‘The British Citizen Awards’ has been going strong for a number of years now. The BCA is now into its eighth year and recognises exceptional individuals who positively impact their communities, charities, and individual causes. This event is held twice yearly and nominees who are granted a BCA are invited to attend the Presentation Day at the Palace of Westminster. This is a highly prestigious setting and warrants the selfless achievement of the winners and recipients of this award.

A core focus of the award is to highlight individuals that positively impact others. The BCA also seeks to highlight the positive aspects of multi-culturalism throughout the UK in workplaces, community groups and charities. Another wonderful aspect of the award is that it is truly accessible to all, with nominees put forward by members of the general public. What makes the BCA so wonderful is that it serves to celebrate the good things that make Britain great.

The wonderful ideals which are celebrated during the award of BCAs closely align to us as a company and retailer, with our stores very often located at the centre of communities right across the UK. As part of our community values, we believe in strengthening and empowering people to pursue and enact real positive change. Which is precisely why it is an honour for us to be able to partner and work with the BCAs allowing us to play a small part in the recognition of these exceptional individuals.

The latest award ceremony was held on the 7th July and hosted by Naga Munchetty. The One Stop Community and Partnership Manager Jack Taylor was there to present the awards to some of the winners. Jack presented the award to Ali Aklakul Islam and Amna Rafiq who received their award for services to education. While Amardeep Singh Virdee, June Fraser and Captain John L David were presented with their award for services to the community. Jack said the following about the event: “it was not only great to hear the stories and the achievements of the recipients, but a great honour to present some of them with their awards.”
