
A BBQ classic! These juicy beef burgers are packed with flavour from onions and herbs. Perfect for loading up with cheese, lettuce, and tomato in a soft bun.

Ingredients:
½ tbsp olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
500g beef steak mince (15% fat)
1 tsp dried mixed herbs
1 egg, beaten
4 slices mature Cheddar (optional)
4 white burger buns
A few lettuce leaves, torn
1 beef tomato, sliced
Ketchup, to serve (optional)

Method:
- Cook the onion:
Heat the oil in a frying pan. Add the chopped onion and cook for about 5 minutes until soft and golden. Let it cool slightly. - Make the burger mix:
In a large bowl, mix the mince, herbs, egg, and cooked onion. Season with salt and pepper. Shape into 4 burger patties. - Cook the burgers:
Grill or barbecue the patties for 5–6 minutes on each side, until cooked through. If using cheese, place a slice on each burger during the last minute of cooking to melt. - Toast the buns:
Lightly toast the cut sides of the buns on the grill or in a pan. - Assemble and serve:
Fill each bun with lettuce, a burger, tomato slices, and a squeeze of ketchup if you like.
