Being at home can be tough especially when you have to cook three meals a day for you and your family. It can be tricky to come up with different meal ideas and to plan ahead. So, we’re here to help! Check out our tips to help you plan your meals at home and please the whole family.

1. Simple meals for the kids

We all know that children can be fussy eaters, so when cooking family meals it can be a real struggle to make a dish they will sit down and enjoy. We’ve got some easy peasy meals that the kids will love with no questions asked. They are a parents dream. See below…

Cheese & Ham Wraps

Ingredients
– 1 tortilla wrap
– 1 tbsp soft cheese
– 1 lettuce leaf
– A handful of grated cheddar cheese
– 1 slice of ham

Method
– Spread the tortilla with the soft cheese, add the lettuce leaf, slice of ham and sprinkle with grated cheese.
– Roll up, fold the ends, cut in half and serve with some fruit or carrot/cucumber sticks

Tip: If your kids struggle to eat their greens, why not make a ‘green cheese’. Blitz some peas, spinach and basil with a bit of soft cheese and spread into the tortillas. Add whatever filling you want before rolling up and slicing – it’s so easy and super quick.

4. Batch cooking

Batch cooking or as some say ‘meal prep’ is an effective way of planning ahead and making the most out of your meals. If you make a large meal such as a Chilli Con Carne or a Curry, why not put into plastic containers and stick them in the freezer? You can use these as meals for days to come and will reduce the amount you have to cook. When it comes to eating just take out the freezer and leave overnight in the fridge to be enjoyed the next day.

5. Easy baking ideas

Get your bake on! Baking is a fun way to get everyone involved, especially the kids. Get your apron on and into the kitchen, here are some easy baking ideas that you can try at home. It will be sure to keep the kids happy and at the end you can all enjoy a delicious treat. Try this Easy Cupcake recipe here

6. Super storage solutions

Is your freezer full of boxes and plastic containers? Are you struggling to find room to fit in anything else? Why not use re-sealable sandwich bags instead of containers as it will free up much more room and they cost less? You can think ahead and chop up some veg, like onions and pop them in the freezer ready to use for your next meal. This is a great idea to know exactly what’s in your freezer, to clear up some space in the cupboards, and to make cooking quicker and easier.
